This is a video of what Daniel is doing, (he is not in this video, because it is of last years soldiers) while he is in the army. He was chosen for his height, but all the soldiers had to pass a fitness test. 50 push-ups, 50 sit-ups and 3 kilometers in 12 min as well as handling the gun and some other stuff.

More of my second year portfolio images
Copy write: Fiona Wang Photography
This is my self portrait.
I see myself relaxed on a rock like a seal, but also swinging through life having fun and enjoying life to the full.
This image consists of three images.
The background, is of my faverite rock, which I call the hand, it can be found on the coast of Durban, in the sleepy little area called Umsloti which is about 15 km from Durban.
The second image was taken on a bench, on the jetty, with the elephant tusks in Umshlanga. Another beautiful spot on one of the many beaches of the Durban coast line.
Finally, the last image was taken in the little park at La Lucia Mall parking lot.
Buy cutting and paisting and then tweeking with different photorshop tools this was created.

I then added images that I had taken in Durban at the stadium and those taken while in Shanghai at the World Expo, where South Africa had a building that had many images of South Africa and the Soccer World Cup. There were thousands of people attending the World expo, the Chinese government had given each family in china one complementary ticket, to help families afford to go and enjoy the Expo.
As a result it was packed and every building had a continual queue at the entrance of each building. there were also busses that shuttled one from building to building, as everything is large scale in china.
One hounded and Twenty Five countries had exhibitions at the World Expo. Chine exhibition concentrated on recycling of plastic and there were daily performances from the Sho-Lin monks and a daily per raid with children on roller skates.

Seven Deadly Sins With Mask first shoot
Want to get a back ground that has a hill and may be find a building or monument with steps
(or if the push comes to the push make a module of some steps and paint it and then shoot it and cut past it.)
My model will have a plain mask on because I don't want the face to be important. She will be sitting on a hard flat surface with her hands resting in her lap with a mask held in her open hands. This mask will represent greed.
I will take pictures of her arms in different positions, so that they can be added to her body so that in the end she will have 8 arms and seven masks resting on each hand and one on the two middle hands.
I am not sure if I will put objects in the eyes of the masks or what I will do to the masks. but the first one will represent greed and maybe have money tumbling out of where the eyes should be.
I have done a shoot in the 3 year studio, which did not go well:-
First the equipment gave trouble and I had to get Mark in to try and fix it, eventually he said to improvise with other equipment, because there was something wrong with the studio lighting.
My model was not felling well, because she had just had surgery the week before.
Then the masks had this shinny stuff on the top of them like strait hair sticking up and the lights make shiny spots on the stuff, I will probable photo shop the straight imaginary hair off in the end.
Am seriously thinking of re-shooting everything.

QUESTION 1
What does Photography mean to you?Well there are a number of answers and it complicated, but simply put, it is another way of expressing myself, it is fun, makes me think and be creative.
QUESTION 2
What genre of photography are you passionate about? Why?
People, because they are all different, starting with their looks, attitudes, reactions, personalities, interests, professions and backgrounds. One can only capture a moment in someones life. But sadly, I am not doing this genre for may DUT portfolio, because I felt like I was being put in a box and the lid sealed and the air snuffed out. Being told that I has to narrow it down to child at play, or baby, or portraits etc, made me sick to the cor, they did not understand what I wanted to do, I wanted to make a documentary of different people from birth to death, just like Shakespeare poem The Seven Ages of Man.
Fortunately, I have other passions, Nature and Landscape, here one only has to open you front door and step outside and you are surrounded by beauty, even when it is raining or there is a lightning and thunderstorm. Landscape can be divided in to two urban and rural and Nature encumbrances trees, birds, animals and insects. The possibilities are endless.
Landscape and Nature is my first specialty for portfolio.
My Second specialty for portfolio is Digital Food Photography, I want to try and produce images that can be incorporated in to menu's and cookbooks for healthy living. Simple, but interesting.
QUESTION 3
What aspects of Photography do you love? The fact that you are in charge and that through the lens you can decide what will or will not include in the final image.
The face that you have to go out and find interesting things to shoot.
The fact that every day you could take the same image, and have a different result, because of different times of the day and different settings and different lighting. When shooting out doors, the time of the year also plays a huge part in the end result. All this excites me.
QUESTION 4
What aspects of Photography do you find challenging?
Studio photography, and working with the old fashioned cameras like the Hasselblad and Sinar.
QUESTION 5
If you could share one thing with others who are also interested in Photography what would it be?
Grab a camera and get out there, the world is your oyster and you are it pearl.
Use YOU TUBE, there are many talented people out there dying to shear their knowledge with you.
Find a photographer, that needs help and learn all the tricks of the triad, while you work.
